Little Shop Of Howlers

Meet the crew that makes the magic happen:

L-R: Erin, Anthony, Frankie, Caitlan, Tina

L-R: Erin, Anthony, Colby, Tina

Little Shop's owner and lead stylist, Erin, has worked with and owned animals for over 15 years.  Her love for horses drew her to High Hopes Therapeutic Riding Center in Old Lyme, CT.  After volunteering there for just over 8 years, Erin left to attend Nyack College in New York.  While playing NCAA Div. II volleyball and basketball, she was hired at a local kennel and her grooming career began.

Erin fell in love with pet styling from the very beginning.  She enjoys transforming pets and helping them put their best paw forward.  To quench her competitive nature, Erin participates in national dog grooming competitions.  She has won multiple Best All Around Groomer awards, as well as Best In Show, and several first placements.  Competing helps keep grooming fun and exciting, as well as improving her eye for details.

With the help of 2 colleagues, Erin is currently working on forming the CT Groomer's Association.  Their goal in this venture is to raise the standard for grooming salons in our state as well as offer our clients a directory of the participating salons.

Her family consists of: Rory (daughter), Paddy (son), Bear (Shep/Rotti x), ZZ (Standard Poodle), Rip (American Cocker Spaniel),Clare (Kerry Blue Terrier), Rondo (Toy Poodle), Bullseye (DSH), Pester (DSH), Bostitch (DSH), 5 chickens, Stella (Columbian Red Tail)...hoping I didn't miss any!

Memorials for Erin's beloved pets:

Tina worked in the corporate world for more than 25 years before realizing her heart was calling her to working with pets.  An avid pet lover, Tina has been rescuing and loving both dogs and cats since childhood.  She has been part of Little Shop's team since December, 2007.  Tina is our receptionist par excellence and wants nothing more than to give and receive lots of love from our pet patrons.

"It's wonderful to be able to spend everyday with these animals.  What a joy to be able to send them home looking and feeling good with heads held high.  You can tell by the prance in their step that they know how beautiful they are."

Tina shares her home with a beautiful German Shepherd Dog, Pluto, whom she rescued in 2013 from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.  Together they spend their afternoons taking long walks and playing with his favorite toy, a stuffed Pluto dog.

Anthony joined the Little Shop team in 2011. He is a joy to have with us. Always a smile on his face and a willingness to work hard. I have yet to meet a dog that doesn't immediately warm up to Anthony. His gentle spirit is a comfort to any nervous pets and his love of animals is more than apparent in everything he does. Little Shop is lucky to have Anthony with us.

Colby has also been at Little Shop since 2011 and has just begun to train for a groomer position. He has a natural eye for balance and is already able to achieve a smooth finish style. We are excited to see Colby grow into an excellent stylist. His unending patience with the pets is essential and not something you can teach.

Caitlan has been grooming for several years in various salons around CT but we were lucky enough for her to land here with us in 2013. She also owns and operates The Diesel Dog LLC pet grooming and portraits. Her artistic eye is "transfurred" onto each living pet canvas that she transforms. Be sure to visit her website and view her breathtaking portraits. She is also on facebook @TheDieselDogLLC.

Frankie came to us in 2014 while taking a respite from his career as a chef. Not only did we get another hard worker who unconditionally loves the animals in our care, but we get treated to great dinners whenever he shares with us his culinary creations.

Little Shop has truly been blessed with an amazing team of animal lovers. I cannot thank them enough for the hard work they do day in and day out to help keep America beautiful one pet at a time!
